Abstract

The Nuclear Factor kappaB (NF-kappaB) transcription factor is a key driver of inflammation and immune response to pathogens. In response to infection and cytokine stimulation, the system exhibits complex and noisy dynamics generated via the set of negative and positive regulatory feedback loops that control patterns of downstream gene expression. Using multidisciplinary systems biology approach we aim to resolve design principles behind NF-kappaB circuit, its dynamics and function. A new quantitative understanding of this complex and nonlinear network will move us towards better therapeutic strategies for inflammatory disease.
